In early December 2012 I camped at Stephen Foster Folk Cultural Center State Park with some friends with Casitas. This is the home of the Stephen Foster Museum. It features several pianos from his era and some dioramas that are wonderfully detailed and depict various scenes typical of his songs.
Every month the park has at least a 1 or 2 day event of interest. There is a craftsmen’s “village” where several craftsmen work at their trade, very interesting to see and they are happy to explain their crafts. In December the park puts on a Festival of Lights, very colorful and really gets everyone in a happy holiday mood.
Fortunately the campground is very close to the heart of the park where the museum and craftsmens’ village is. It was easy to walk around in the evening to see the lights, visit the museum and enjoy the various entertainments offered. The campground itself is very neat and clean, good sites with shrubs between most of them.
