The drive today went well, not a lot of traffic, and even going through Albuquerque wasn’t difficult, I guess it being a Saturday contributed to that.
Here in the west it is common to see horse corrals, even at the rest areas folks can unload their stock just like we walk our dogs to give them a break.
Once I got past Albuquerque I did see some impressive cliffs, but they didn’t last long and I was into much flatter desert country as I got into AZ.
Saw lots more trains. Ever heard the phrase” America’s goods travel by truck”, well, guess what?! Lots of the trucks’ trailers travel by train. Here’s a shot of just a few of the many I saw riding on flatbed cars.
Here is the sign I’ve been looking forward to. I stopped at the welcome rest area and picked up a couple of pamphlets about the areas I’m going to in the next couple of days and took a photo of the sign while I was walking around.
Another time change, AZ is on Pacific time (at least where I am now is) so when I crossed into AZ I had to move the clocks back another hour. It is pretty dark here now and not quite 8 pm, another factor of the time change.
