The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is spectacular. We head some nice weather for exploring it and enjoyed extended visit with a few Casita friends who were on the So UT Tour with us.
Late afternoon view from the terrace at the lodge.
May 27 we left the Grand Canyon and headed north, our goal being Yellowstone NP. The first day we put in about 450 miles and stopped at a Walmart in Brigham City, UT. Got settled in just before a thunderstorm hit. It was a long drive but we got past SLC and that was good to have behind us. The next day we headed north through ID with the idea of taking 89 all the way to Jackson, WY. Since we were a day early we planned on stopping at Gros Ventre campground in the Tetons before checking into Yellowstone (Madison campground). Unfortunately 89 was closed at the WY border so we were instructed to stay on 30 then take 34 NE to get to 89 a ways south of Jackson. Not a bad drive and while we saw very dark clouds around us we didn’t have much rain. In the back country of ID we encountered a pair of cowboys who were moving some cattle with some dogs. I was right up front of the line of cars so managed to get some photos. This first one was shot with a small camera, through the windshield, which was fogging up.
It made for a nice break in an otherwise rather dull drive. Sure glad I didn’t have to be out in the cold rain doing what they were doing.
